The shop Im having do my trans rebuild is saying there is a 50/50 chance the speedo ring gear may get damaged when removing it from the OEM differential. I would just get a new one from Honda but it doesnt look like it is a seperate piece.

Is there a best practice for removing it? Ive seen that a lot of the B series guys heat them up and seem to have good luck but thats what this shop has done in the past and it seems they still have trouble from time to time.

Thanks In advance!

You can grind a 25mm wide chisel to a real sharp edge with shallow angle and use it to pry/wedge the ring gear off the OEM diff. It just takes time and patients with a hard, sharp edge.
