thermostat replacement
alright i kno this is a simple one but i've never done it b4. how much fluid am i looking at to replace? are there any little tricks i should kno about? i do have a helms manual. it's a jdm h22a. thanx guys
you will probably only loose maybe half a gallon at the most. dont catch the fluid you loose becuase it wouldbe hard plus woujld get dirt in it most likely. whenever i replace a thermostat i always flush the system anyways becuase if you dont flush it every say 50k miles the dissimilar metals the coolant comes in contact with will make the fluid become acidic, rotting your heater core and making your car smell like antifreeze on a cold winter morning. so if its been more that 50k since it was last flushed i would spend the extra 20 bucks which could save you a lot more time and money in the long run. to flush run plain water probably from a hose thru the line at the radiator until the coolant is all gone. then take compressed air and blow the water out being careful not to exceed like 20 psi inside the radiator and such.
