Default stripped philips head.

The two philips screws that hold the heat sink on in the dizzy above the ignitor unit were jammed tight. I tried twice, second time with the more proper sized bit and that was enough to strip it. The heads are extremeley soft and they are screwed on pretty tight; probably from lack of taking out so it prob has a lot of gunk stuck in there.

Anyway, I tried hammering a deeper longer slot to try a flat head and it just doesn't get enough grip- strips it further.

Any ideas? I don't really want to drill because I don't know how long/short those screws are and, secondly, afraid might damage the dizzy housing.

Anything else I can probably do?

dremel a new, deeper cross-hatch into the top and try again.

Bleh, no dremel handy. Is that pretty much my last option aside from drilling? No kits or anything from stores to remedy this? If not then I guess I'll need to buy one..

EZ Outs, the reverse drill bits. Also, try the Dremel trick. It works great when you can get a cutting disk down into where the screw is.

Phillips head screws are a cruel joke....
