Default Straight Pipe

My 4th Gen lude is all NA with mad bolt-ons and engine tune...
A buddy just bought a straight pipe for his VR4 and expects noticeable hp gains from his twin turbo...
Will it add any hp to my car as well or is it just a waste of $46 in my case????
Will the car be louder with the straight pipe installed????

Yes, everyone has it summed up. It will smell terrible and the exhaust will sound nasty. It's not worth messing up the environment for something that you don't really need all the time. Maybe for track days, but for everday driving the headaches outweigh the benefits. I knew a guy who had a pipe in his Integra, and the car was so loud and buzzy and smelly I just drove my car instead. The CEL light also would go on and stay on, and that alone is enough to drive me nuts.

Yeah I put one on my Lude. I'd say it gave me around 5whp. But soon after installing it I started noticing the smell, and it's just not worth it.

i have a testpie on my car right now. currnetly i have had no problems since i have had it, other than it being LOUD. i have NOT noticed any smell from inside my car and when i get out and go to to the back o my car it just smells like my car is runnig alittle rich, which it is.

i will admit that its alittle to loud for me. i put on my exhaust and testpipe all at one time and the combo netted some NICE gains on the butt dyno.

this is just my .02

you want HP gain but minus the annoying affects of smell and harm to the environment -then it sounds like you need to get a high flow cat... YES You will NOTICE a difference! Most dyno results ive seen have added 4-8hp. Its still legal too, unlike a test/straight pipe.
