Starter throwing arcs
Car would not start this morning..it does not even turn over. Took the starter to the auto parts store and dude said it was throwing arcs from the solenoid to the metal bracket where the radiator hose attaches. He also said that if it was doing that for a couple days that it could have drained/killed the battery as well.
Here is what happens: I turn the key and all I hear is one 'click' then I lose ALL power. No dash lights , no open door chime..nothing. I tried a jump start and that was a no go. I got the dash lights to come on, but again, turned the key, one click and then nothing and no power. Battery is like 2 months old. Starter is most likely OEM.
Any feedback would be appreciated

you've got two possibilites here
1) your battery terminals are corroded and dirty
but most likely
2) you're missing a ground....do you have the transmission to battery ground on there and is that wire in good shape?? is where is bolts on clean?? my brothers car was doing the same thing, and it was that ground.....looks pretty cool at night though....
edit: also make sure that you have that little plastic sheath over the positive wire on the starter, that will help cut down on arcing

battery terminals are relatively clean....took care of that when I put the new battery in.
yeah all the wiring looks good....that's the thing man.....car has been running fine for the last 3 months....with only a few minor mechanical issues and then all of a sudden it just won't turn over. I can triple check the wiring but I guess I am wondering if what the dude told me is even a possibilty...arcing = drained battery?

if it arcs and everything else is fine then your starter just went bad, more specifically the solenoid is bad, but you probably just will have to buy the whole thing
you can try slamming it with the largest blunt object you can find....that really does sometimes work, depending on how f*cked the thing really is
but yeah get a new one asap

the starter still turned over at the auto parts store, it was just throwing arcs...

Re: Starter throwing arcs (NoVALude)
you might be able to have it rebuilt, especially if just the solenoid is bad, which is what normally goes from what i've been told.

none of my buddies have a Lude.....
snew starter is 170 with lifetime warranty....gonna try that with a jump and see what happens. If nothing then I will drop a new battery in there as well....

Re: (NoVALude)
Just a follow up:
Replaced the starter and took the battery to have it tested and it needed a charge. The starter works great now and the car runs fine.....
