Squealing sound when turning on the car (mainly cold starts)
Sometimes I get a really high pitch squeal from my car when I try to turn it on and basically the car gets no spark.. sounds like my timing belt? :[. It happens here and there, it kinda concerns me because no car shouldn't be making sounds like that. Any ideas?
From my research it sounds like a generator belt needs to be replaced.

Re: (fish stick)
I mean that, I hope to god its not my timing belt. I was thinking it was my start belt because my belt NEVER squeals when I drive only like 1/6 times i start my car it'll have a high pitch squeal. Where should I look to see my starter belt? (Still learning about my prelude day by day)

Hmmm, I think its the whirling sound.. it sounds like inbetween a squeal and whirl.
Is this extremely bad for my car everytime it happens?
Just checked the belts no signs of bad wear I checked for tightness and the one that loops around the 3 pullies was fine and the one that has only 2 pullies was loser then that other one.. So from my guess its a little loose? What belt is this?

Re: (GraphiteMW)
If you want some piece of mind then remove your valve cover and make sure it's not your timing belt( but you mentioned earlier is only makes this noise upon startup) So im thinkin it's one of your accesory belts( alt/ac or ps or both) need replaced.
In my situation my car would make a horrible screaching bloody sound upon cold starts and also an annoying squeaking sound during driving. I had replaced both belts beforehand. Noticed some rust on my ac compressor( my ac doenst work anyway ) so i just bypassed my compressor with a 37inch belt(H22a). Sound has never returned. Not the correct way to fix the problem but f#ck it, im not going to buy a new ac compressor anytime soon so.
Edit: 2 pullies = power steering belt, ya tighten it up and starter back up and see.

So how would I go about changing the belts? Which one is the belt that has the 2 pullies on it that exposes it self at left side of the valve cover (not the timing)? I think I might go replace that and if I still have problems replace the other belt.]
*edit*
Sorry for the noob question, How do I tighten the belt?

Re: (GraphiteMW)
For the ps belt
1. loosen the 12mm mounting bolt and 2 nuts
2. loosen the 12mm locking nut
3. tighten the 10mm long bolt to tighten the belt
Search in archived for a how-to with pics, i know someone did a how-to with pics on either the alt or ps belt, i search too and see if i can get you a link with pics.

It would be weird for the timing belt to be slipping because it has ridges and shouldn't move at all if does it would throw it out of time and wouldn't run at all. It has ridges kind of like ruffles

Did you ever find that tutorial? I searched and absolutely could not find it... I'll go out to my car in a second and try to tighten it.
Just got done tightening the belts, the first try still ended up in that whirling sound so I tightened it a bit more then started it up.. the car started up right away with no hesitation.. i did 3 more times and it was flawless. So I guess my problem is fixed! Thanks guys!
