speedometer problem

ok the problem is that it works when it wants to work any ideas on how to fix it please let me know.

Check your speedsensor. If it registers miles to your car, then you actual gauge is messed up, or, if it doesn't register miles and speed, then your speed sensor is messed up. Check a manual to locate it.
