Default Should i buy or not

Friend of mine crashed his accord Euro type r(1998) and told me i could buy his engine. 1000 euro/dollar Without the tranny is what he's asking. Is it to much?

Question is: Does it bolt right in to my 4th gen lude? Do i need shiftlinkages, axels, tranny, ecu to make it work? is it al to much of a hassle?

Any comments are welcome exept flaming ones

well, from my understanding, the Euro ATR has a hopped-up H22, so it SHOULD bolt right up, nothing else needed.

I can't give an opinion on the amount, though, cause I don't know what your currency is comparable to w/ the US $

Its comes to about $1,125.00USD so yes it's a good deal, go for it!

Even if its not a direct boltin, buy it anyways!

The euro is as strong as the dollar right now so 1000 dollars.

But what do you think about the tranny?? I've got a h23a2 and with that tranny the ATR is gonna keep getting out of vtec right?

I really want this engine, but i don't want surprises. I haven't seen alot of people here that have done this, so i'm searching al the info i can get right now.

when using the h23 tranny with the h22a1 or a4, you will fall slighly below the vtec engagemnt point when shifting at redline. It will probably be the same or similar with the setup your considering.

right
I have the H22a JDM setup with the H23 tranny! I fall outta vtec in 1st to 2nd . But everything bolts right up for me, and the JDM swap. I have the H23a1 tranny cause thats what was in the car be4 the swap, only it had the H23a. My swap had no tranny so I had to make use of the one I had. Till I get the H22 tranny.

ya sounds like a sweet deal man

everything should bolt up...if not it can't be anything big! tranny is probably almost the same in europe as here, in any case i'm sure it bolts right up.

Is this making the car really slower?? maybe a race clutch and ultra light flywheel can give some better pickup, to compensate for the out of vtec situation.

I'm keeping the h23a2 tranny, cause things are hard to come by here in Europe and are way to expensive to buy.
Anyway thanks for all the info and i'm definitly gonna buy the engine.

How much does this out of vtec situation slow you down at the strip??
Did you have to rewire the harness a little ??

I have an ATR/Euro-R tranny in my 4th gen, atached to a USDM H22a,,,so you shouldn't have any problems. What happened to the tranny?

Your main issues are:

1) Header will have different downpipe length/design cause it's for an accord, either modify or buy a prelude header

2) THe ATR motor has a higher powerband than the regular H22a...you'll find with an H23a2 tranny that you wish it would get to the higher rpms faster. Lightweight flywheel is a must.

3) Not sure if engines there have OBDI vs.OBDII distributors...but if so you should swap your OBDI sidtributor on there to save you some different wiring.

4) What ecu are you going to use? THe ATR ecu plugs will be differnt than the ATR plugs, so either you are doing custom wiring.

5) ENgine mounts are the same you shouldn't have a problem and your tranny will bolt right up

The tranny got sold seperatly to a national 2nd hand parts distributor service. He didn't know it might fit my Prelude so he was already selling parts.

1)I've got a custom turbo setup going on, so i'll turbocharge the sucker as soon as i blow up my h23a2. I want to see how long it will run with stock internals at 12 psi daily. I'm not gonna drive it hard everyday. but i am gonna stick with 12 psi, just like firedrake.

2)I figured i needed the flywheel, so maybe later buy one.

3)I don't know if it's obd1 or obd11, i'll have to find it out.

4)That's good, no extra work

Thnx for the info satan_srv

You realize the ATR has 11:1 Compression? 12psi on stock internals at 11:1 will not last...Firedrake is running 10:1 CR...

I was talking about the H23a2. I'm gonna see how much and how long it can handle boost. By the time it blows i'll be ready with the ATR. Internals are going to be changed etc.
