Shifting issues?! HELP!
Not too sure what could be causing this issue so maybe someone can help me. First of all its a 1998 Honda Prelude with an f20b swap, M2y4 Trans. 1st and second gear go in a little "clunky" and sometimes they go in fine, but for the most part you hear a "clunk" and its not smooth. All the other gears go in fine, and none of them grind. Then from time to time I have a hard to getting into reverse, when that happens I just move the shifter in a circle motion then it goes in gear perfect. Another thing I noticed is no matter what gear I'm in when driving if I let off of the gas the shifter moves like if it was to fall out of gear, when I hit the gas it moves forward again. I replaced my shifter cables with used ones but no results. Do I HAVE to get new ones from the dealer, or could it be the bushings at the end of the cables connecting to the trans? Or could it be another issue? Any ideas? Thanks!
Your worn out mounts will allow movement of the shifter cable.
It could also mean that your syncros are wearing thin.
Really have to see it for a better guess.
That explains a lot! Now the problem that I could be having could also be because of a stretched cable right? And also could be why the gears feel shitty when shifting because the engine and trans rock back and forth! Damn dude thanks a lot! I'm actually getting ready to change my front mount because its toast! Wow! Thanks again man!

^Check the rear one too, the front mount is just a torque mount, it doesn't do a whole lot to keep the engine stable in the bay, mostly a vibration damper.
