Default RPM Guage Is Jumpy...... not a constant increase or decrease.

When I accelerate the rpm guage jumps form 2 grand to 4 grand sticks there for a while and drops back down. Just does not show true reading of rpms wondering if it could be the ICM or simply that the needle is sticking.
Thanks

If you haven't fooled with your dash any, I don't know what to tell you...but if you have ever installed the indiglo gauges or if a previous owner has fooled with them (if there was a previous owner), then that could be the problem. Back when I first bought my Prelude, I bought indiglos, and the needle would stick because of the surface of the gauges rubbing against them. I took them out because I was tired of it and never had a problem since...then again, I don't know if you have these gauges and if you don't, somebody else may want to answer your question

It very well could be that your ICM is going out. Be sure that is the problem before you have it replaced, as a new one will cost around $200. If you can get your hands on a distributor with a known good ICM, swap distributors and see if this corrects the problem.
