Replacing ignition switch help?
93lude vtec; my igniton switch is busted and my key wouldn't twist it. I been driving it for awhile by starting it with the white plastic cap that turn with a flat screw driver. I'm getting the whole ignition switch at the junk yard.
I was wondering if there is any thing that i have to be aware of like SRS and ABS wiring that needs to be disconnect? Hopefully someone has done this before..

As a precaution against shorting and damaging anything, disconnect the Negative from the battery until you have completed the job, make sure you know your radio code if you need one.

I would say disconnect your drivers side airbag. flip the steering wheel so the bottom is facing up. remove the two screws. there is a plug and a cap. unplug the airbag and plug the end into the cap for saftey.
Im not sure if I would disconnected the airbag if I was doing it. I would disconnect the battery like british said.

In addition-the switch uses special mounting screws on the newer ones-not hard to drill out the old ones if you take your time. I am assuming you are also changing the lock cylinder. If only the switch itself-that is very simple. YES-disconnect the battery.

when I replaced my lock cylinder the whole assembly is attached to the steering column by sheer bolts. I used a dremel tool to cut slots in them so I could back them out with a screwdriver. Pick up a set at your honda dealer or your local lock smith. Then you just line everything up and put the bolts in place. Tighten down the bolts untill they sheer off and you should be done.

Thanks alot guys for the advice. I still need to take off the whole steering column just to put on the new ignition?
On the other hang, about how much would labor cost to replace that thing because i dont' wanna go messing with it? thanks

It's very easy took me about 20 minutes. You just have to take the steering column cover off and there are two round bolts on top... that's what holds your ignition switch on. If you compare the new one to the old one it is 100% obvious what you have to do.
