questions about alignment
i have a '98 prelude lowered on h&r sports. And i've basically had it lowered for about 1 and a half year. But recently i noticed that the inner part of my tire was wearing down more than the outside.
h&r sports are 1.4" drop all around. I believe that shouldn't cause much of a camber problem. But i had hit a curb one time pretty hard, and big bumps on the road every once in a while.
i finally took it into sears to get an alignment today, they told me that they can't do anything with the camber since it is lowered, so i just told them to zero out my toe.
I got the print out but i can't tell if it was my toe that caused my tire to wear down prematurely. Sears said my camber is just a bit off.

Oh yeah - from the looks of that. Your toe was out of wack. And TOE angles do wear out tires prematurely.
Although your before total toe was in range - your individual toe was still out of range.
And yes, it happens all the time.
For instance - if the total toe is supposed to equal 3*..........
You can have the following R and L combinations
-2* 5*
-1* 4*
4* -1*
.....etc....................
Total toe isn't something to be WORRIED about..........individual toe is more important. Just try to get the toe the closest to spec as possible and total toe will fall in place.

thanks for the reply!
but is the camber off a lot or is it not off enough to really mess up my tires?
would the camber just go off all of a sudden? or does it just happen when you first drop it?

i wouldn't worry about the camber. it won't wear it significantly if toe is in line. if u still have some wear on the inside have your tires remounted the other way on the rim so u can wear the outside of the tires and keep the tires longer.

i kind of agree with that. 2 degrees is good in front but i would rather much less in the rear - at least for our understeering preludes anyway.
