Default question about hydrolock

i have a cold air intake on my 97 prelude, my fender well ripped off somehow, so it's somewhat exposed, I put a plastic cover on the bottom side of the intake where the bumper is, but the back is still completely exposed. In heavy rain, should I be worried about hydrolock or anything? like from water runoff from the tires. I guess my end question would be is it ok if the filter gets wet as long as it's not sucking up a puddle??? thanks guys.

do you have a bypass valve? is you do your fine. i have no fender liner on mine and ive never has any issues (i have bypass valve) if you dont have one then youll be ok just dont drive through huge puddles if you do push the clutch in when you drive over it.

buy a v2 their, short ram and pull of more power, so you wont have to worry bout water.

I have a CAI, and I've driven through rain several times. When I drive through rain, I leave it in a lower gear to keep the rpms up.

umm and how does that help?

the filter has to be submerged to hydrolock the engine. its like a straw, it wont suck up any water cuz if theres air coming in theres no suction. ive driven through short stretches of deep water...i just turn the engine off and coast through...

hydrolock-been there done that!!! lol it sucks!!! as long as you dont fully submerge it you will be fine. as for the inner fender stuff if you run through a puddle deep enough to hydrolock it, it wont help.bypass valve is worth the extra 40 bucks.

no your filter does not have to be submerged to hydrolock the engine. If it idid I would not have a bent rod sitting on my toolbox that came out of my wifes car when i was driving it.

and to teh guy keeping his RPMs up....are you TRYING to suck more water into the engine?
