I found a 89 prelude si the guy wants to trade for a fourwheeler, but i dont know much about this model the car is in good shape and i want to know if theres any major problems and how the preludes ran.

 

If the car is in good shape, that would mean it doesn't have any major problems. What would you like to know about how the 3rd Gen Si Preludes run? 0-60? 0-100? Ľmi times? Be more specific.

 

if the maintenance has been done regularly and it runs good, then go for it.

does it have the 4 wheel steering option? if youre not sure look under the back wheels for a steering rack.

 

any info you can offer would be great, so far the one thing that needs to be replaced is the fuel pump, i really want the car i have'nt owned anything outside of 88-91 honda civics and crx's. Since i have a crx si i thought it would be cool to have a prelude of the same era si, do they have any common weak spots for example the main relays in my efs are always going out and i know those come b-20 are b20s of that era compatible with newer b-20 componets.

 

3rd gens arn't bad at all.

What do you mean how they run? If its well maintained she'd likely run great being its a damn HONDA heh heh.

Not too much is natoriously wrong with them. They rust out in rear corner panels. The auto trannies suck *****. Someone else can add to the list. Mine was mint except gast tank leak and broken windshield. I don't think gas leak was typcial, who knows though

 

thanks for the input, do you know if those engines are compatible with new b20 parts, according to some this is an outcast motor compared to the other b-series engines.

 

to test the fuel pump can i just use a main relay from one of my 88-89 hatchs. Or is there a big change in the relays they look the same and the solders dont look to different.
