Default Problems replacing the fuel pump

Hey,

I'am replacing the fuel pump and I have already removed the access panel and most of the bolts but:

The electrical connectors have this off white cream/goo inside them covering the metal contacts - is this normal?

There is a metal backet just above the pump connected to the trunk firewall - it seems I have to remove my back seats and remove some parts of the firewall. This is in order to lift the pump straight out. Did you guys have to do this?

Thanks

I will also be replacing my fuel pump shortly with one from Walbro. That metal piece on the trunk firewall is one-piece and attached diagonally across with a few 10 mm bolts. A very easy process. Remove the backing of the rear seats in order to get to the firewall support, for this you will need 8 mm socket. Take your time with the install and you should be good.
