I dont think the weight of the 5th gen is a factor as much as it's length. It's as long as my car (4 door Accord) and that makes for some serious handleing issues. I Auto X and canyon run it my car and I have Tein suspension and ST sway bars and all the other upgrade goodies on my car but I can still feel it's length when Im taking those high speed turns. Not quite as nimble as the shorter 4th gen IMO

I like both 4th and 5th gens. IMO 4th have slighty better performance and 5th look nicer so its a trade off. Both are great cars though.

Preludeh22vtec- bump is typed when someone wants the thread to go to the top of the thread list that way more people look at it.

5th gen has a whopping 1.4 inch longer wheelbase.

I sure does look longer.. Maybe its the actual length?

Driven stock 4th and 5th gen ludes, and 4th and 5th gen track cars.. There is something about the 4th gens, they are just faster......

I agree. I owned a 00 SH, now a 94 VTEC.

For some reason (read: slight weight advantage or gearing?) the 4th gen just picks up quicker. The 5th gen feels slightly sluggish before it actually picks up.

*shrug*

OT: What's up Corey? Haven't seen you in ages!

In actual length the 5th gen increased 3.2 inches. (http://www.ntpog.org/specs/index.shtml)

The ~50 pounds or so of less weight certainly isn't going to hurt, I have to think it's the gearing that makes the slight difference between stock examples.

Although I suspect the slightly lower seating position in the 4th gen contributes to many people's impressions of the car more than any real difference.

I agree, must be the gearing.

The 4th gen does have a lower seat. The 5th gen is much more comfortable to drive.

ive heard that for every 100 lbs you can shave off your car is 0.1 faster in a 1/4 miles run.

Mugen.

It shouldn't matter what HT like/dislike. Build your car the way you want. Just don't show it on HT, you'll get flamed.

3 inches is a major increase in wheel base(beleive or not) And in addition to that the body itself(which increased by about 4 inches) is much longer than the 4th gen. So yes its overall length will certainly hurt performance.
