Default prelude problems

ive got a 95 prelude vtec with 90k on it and i was wondering what would be signs of timing belt snapping. The car is dead it wont turn over, it makes a funny noise when its trying to turn over, i know that if its the timing belt its gonna cost some serious cash to rebuild it. I was driving my lude yesterday and it went dead lost all power and its just died. got a new battery still wont turn over. what else could be the problem.

With a broken timing belt it will still turn over just not start. One way to check is,once its turning over, get a friend to open the oil cap while you crank it and have him look in the valve cover to see if the cams are moving.

Your problem does sound like a broken timing belt. When the timing belt is out, it'll make a funny noise when you try to crank it. Have someone crank it and check through the oil cap hole to see if the valve and retainer are moving.

What kind of a funny noise?? It won't turn over at all?? Did you check the oil? If it won't even turn over check your oil make sure you didn't cease it.

hmm if you have a borken timing belt i hate to say it but that funny noise you hear when your cranking it is you valaves hitting the top of your pistons.

theres a word for what im about to describe but i can't remember it, the h22 is one of those motors due to high compression that when the timing belt breaks the valves are left open and when the piston comes up they get alittle to friendly and hit, and the motor eats it self , thought if you have already been cranking it its too late if something was gona hit it already did, do what str8rcn said and openthe oil cap and look witha flash lite which someone cranks, good luck and crack open the wallet
