Prelude Alternator: 3rd Gen How To
Does anyone have a good video in regard to the removal and replacement of the alternator on the 3rd generation Honda Prelude (1991 Model with B21A1 Engine)?
The location of the alternator on this vehicle will seemingly make a simple job difficult. The alternator sits very low in the engine bay beneath the Power Steering Pump.
Thanks.

It's actually not bad as long as nothing is seized.
-spray all threaded stuff listed below with penetrating oil (NOT wd-40, but actual penetrating oil)
-remove battery neg terminal
-loosen PS belt tensioner nut (12mm), then loosen PS belt tensioner adjusting screw (10mm or 12mm) until PS belt comes off.
-remove two bolts holding PS pump to engine (12mm). remove PS pressure hose from pump (on top, two bolts, 10mm). do not remove return hose. put rag around pressure hose fitting, and rag around ps pump, to catch fluid that drips out. swing pump up and over out of the way towards the driver's side.
- loosen top alternator bolt (14mm). loosen lower alternator bolt (10mm) which is actually on the passenger side of the alternator. Do not attempt to loosen it by the small piece of bolt on the drivers side, it will break off. Loosen alt adjusting bolt (facing front of car, below alt, 10mm or 12mm) until you can remove the alt belt.
-remove power wire from alt. unplug harness plug from alt.
-remove lower alt bolt. remove upper alt bolt. remove alt.
- install is reverse of the above. Just make sure the lower alt bolt goes through the eyelet of the adjuster bolt, and adjuster bolt eyelet needs to be flat against the bracket, not curved edge against bracket
-remove upper alt bolt

ya know, you could always buy a manual. It has everything you could want to know about how to replace, repair, diagnose, and more.
