Powerchip???
Hey All,
I have a 5th Gen 97 Lude and was wondering if anyone has ever used a powerchip on their prelude before. If so, what gains did you get and did you think it was worth it?

Also if anyone can reccomend another chip or ECU which has worked well with their lude please let me know.
The only mods I have so far is the Mugen catback exhaust and the Iceman Cold air intake.
Thanks

well if your in the us they don't list any products for preludes. But anyway, if your going to have your ecu rechipped its better to take your car to a tuner who does chips and have them make one for your car.
Chips made for preludes generally won't work as well as one made for your prelude.

True, better to rolling road tune it.
Only thing I'd say is they'res no point unless you have a form of forced induction; Do you really think Hondas' that crap at tuning its cars that it needs some company to sell modified MAPs for their ECUs?
When the manufacturer makes the first original of the map they get a good equilibrium between performance and reliability.
Sure you can remap maybe gain X ponies for the stable under the bonnet, but it isnt worth doing unless you have a Blower on the motor.
The best route IMHO is to fully build the motor inside out. Ive seen JDM Preludes in the uk that are fully built NA kicking out 290bhp!
Then if you want to go Forced Induction youre prepared and can run good (but not stupid) boost reliably (untill your greeds gives you more, more than you bargain for! Mwah hahh ha ha haa!)
But seriously, if youve got a lot of mods or a blower then get down the rollers!
if it was me and the car was nearly stock even just air filter etc then I wouldnt waste my money.

Cool thanks for your advice. I think i'll leave the ECU as is. Your damn right about Honda knowing the best for their engines. I think i'll save the cash for a JR supercharger.
Thanks again
Thanks again
You do right m8, Superchips is a UK companie; havent heard much good about them. A friend of mine had 250,000miles on his lude and he got it superchipped, gave him like 10hp and wasn't alays keen to startup.
He blew the engine after overrevving it cos the guy theyre told him he had a higher redline!! stock innards so how a chip would balance his engine I dont know!
The only kind of chip I would get myself would be Hondata; thats if I had a fully built motor or FI
2kflamedlude: If its force fed then go for it.
