Default Please help!!!

Ok, I just swapped my cams out to stock and i started the car but it wouldnt turn over. I have fuel and spark.

I just noticed that i didnt bolt down the autotensioner bolt.

Will this cause any problems?

I will check the timing tomorrow and lock down the autotensioner but i need to if i fucked up anything because i tried to start the car with the autotensioner not bolt down..

Thanks.

Did you TDC? If not, it'll crank but sometimes won't start. BTW, if it isn't TDC, your valves are more than likely bent.

Also, if you removed your spark plug cables all the way off the distributor and didn't put them back in the right order, you'll have problems. I think it'll still start but idle hella bad.

Yes, the cam gears are at TDC.

The spark plug cables are in proper order.

I going to unlock the autotensioner now. Hopefully the car will start

I noticed the TDC marks on the belt were not lined up with the arrows on the cam gears.

This is probably due to the autotensioner not being bolt down and the belt skipping teeth when I tried to crank it.

I am going line up the cam gears with the TDC marks on the belt again and see if that will work.

Any other suggestions?

Uh-oh... Make sure your cam gear marks line up level with the head and make sure your alignment marker on the crank is lined up with the marker.

Reinstall the belt. Triple check everything.

Hopefully you didn't bend any valves.

I have a fidanza 8lbs flywheel and I didnt see any mark when check it thru the v window.

Do you or anybody else know if the fidanza flywheel has a tdc mark?

I just want ot make sure it does before i go and kill myself turning the crank by hand

Well, I doubt you skipped teeth and bent valves; I just did something similar and a few teeth skipped won't bend any valves.

Get the covers back off, go back and reset the timing belt the CORRECT way!!! Do it by the manual.

Doesn't your crank have a bolt in the middle that you can ratchet through the wheel well?

Yes, that is what i meant. It is a bitch to turn it especially when the lobes are pushing down on the valves.

Scareyh22a, would this make sense....

line up the crank at the tdc by turning it and using the little v window to line up the mark on the flywheel, unbolt the camshafts guides and turn the cam gears till they are set at tdc, slap the belt back using the original tdc marks on the belt. Retighten the autotensioner etc.... and away she goes?

thanks for all your help so far.
