Default Pitman puller?

I just want to get some reaction on this tool. Can someone explain to me why the tip of the puller is sharp? Also, does it work well and with most cars? Thanks for the help.

Default Re: Pitman puller? (fe519)

it's sharp so that the screw thing can stay planted on the top/bottom/(part it's pushing on) of the ball jt's thread, and not have it twist off b/c of friction.

i personally hate the things, but they work. gotta get the right sized one, and be careful with your ball jt. grease jackets.
