Default pain in the ***...........

well yesterday i decided to play around with my old blown motor. i started taking it apart , piece by piece, and now i'm down to 10 little head bolts that are reeeeeeally torqued down. how the hell do i get them off? i was told to do 1/4 turns from the outside bolts in. is that correct? also, is it possible with hand tools to get it apart? ie. socket/rachet/cheater bar? after trying for about a half an hour with my 3/8's drive and a 14 mil socket and a 2 foot cheater bar, my friend and i managed to break, not one, but 2 14 mil sockets. this thing is reallly on there, is there any easier way to get my h23 motor apart?

head bolts only have like 80ft pounds... use a bigger bitch bar. use a 6point socket so u dont strip it like 12 points usually do..

we used a 6 point, we broke it in half. lol. we tried a compressor a long time ago(a little compressor) and it wouldn't even budge them. then we used a 12 point and rounded it off. if i can't get something going right in the next couple days i will take it up to my work and break the sonofabitch loose. but does anyone have any tips, and directions on how to get it apart easily. any certain procedure on the head bolts?

i personally never have problems. I have used the same set of Craftsman sockets for years. For honda headbolts, i use the 12 point with a breaker bar and a 4ft steel pipe as an extension to the breaker. Pull slow and steady and they will break free.

well, we went to home depot, picked up a 9/16 impact socket(it works, plus they only sell standard's in singles) anyways, picked that up, plus picked up a 24' breaker bar, it took a matter of 5 minutes to break the beast open. and wow, i saw some very amazing things inside, i will hopefully have pics later. but lets just say that i never knew pistons were supposed to be charred black, and the intake valves be brown and the exhaust valves be charred black, hmmm, what do we think happend? also, the number 4 cylinder had some massive damage to it's rod, where it connects to the crank. and when i first touched it, the rod would move a good 1/4 inch either way. also, it suffered some scarring on the cylinder walls. so yeah, i basically fubar'd that motor. and on a side note, my number 1 and 4 cylinders took a **** on me today and i no longer have a clutch, lol, damn prelude's i swear. oh well, i've been waiting for this one to blow so i can swap my motors.
