oxygen sensor heater
my ecu threw me a code 65 meaning the heater on my secondary o2sensor is messed up. To my understanding, the heater on the o2sensor is there to heat up the sensor when the car is still cold rather than having the o2sensor heat up manually from the exaust. My cel comes on right when i turn on my car but my question is..
If the o2 sensor heater doesn't heat up the o2sensor right away, won't the exaust eventually heat up the sensor anyway?
and why won't my cel go off once the o2sensor is heated up?
do i have to replace the o2sensor even if the o2sensor is still working, is there any other way around this?
by the way, i've searched this topic many times. if its already been discussed it'd help if u could post a link to the thread. thanks

my guess is the heater is burned up or the line isn't seeing the correct resistance. Without that, it's going to throw the code weither the O2 heats up by the exhaust or not. I've read you can stick a 1K Ohm resistor across the heater lines and the O2 won't throw a code (usful for if you need to remove the O2 and are going to run a simulator)
I'm not running a test pipe, and don't i will because of the strict laws here in Canada. But I guess my only option here is going with a new o2sensor. I'm really hesitant to do so because of the price of these things, but there seems to be no other reliable way out.
A universal is only like $59 shipped from http://www.oxygensensors.com. I just did a write-up on it on preludeonline.
