Default Overheating. . . Really?

So, this is what I got.

Stock JDM f22b DOHC swap. Came over from a f22a SOHC. Stock ECU and f22a injectors. f22a 5 speed, generic all aluminum radiator with generic 10" fans.

It runs smooth and sits right at half temp while idling running or anything else with no AC on and both fans running full voltage.

Kick the AC on and it boils over(fast) while idling and sitting. On the freeway it maintains barely, you stop and it boils.

All of this is when it is about 110 degrees outside.

What should I start with?

I am anywhere from it's running lean to get a Mishimoto radiator and fans with WaterWetter.

remember the faq page is your best friend. press the back button scroll up and it will be sticky to the top of the prelude forum

bleed bleed bleed. air in the coolant system is not good. when bleeding the coolant make sure the temp gauge is all the way to the red. open the bleeder valve and fill up the radiator until there are no air bubbles coming out of the bleeder valve. close the valve. then i leave the radiator cap off and with the temp gauge all the way to the red run the car for a couple minutes this should work the rest of the air out. also make sure you have the proper amount of coolant in the reservoir.

look for signs of leaks(coolant on ground, wet areas in the engine bay, or the smell) which causes a lack of coolant pressure. are both your top and bottom radiator hoses hot after warm?

why are you running 10 in fans? you should be running 12 at least. with those temps. are you sure that the fans are spinning the right way. you might have to take the fan off, and remount them the other way.. basically 180.or possibly wire backwards.

also forgot to ask, if your ac fan kicks on when you turn it on

I ran them bounced off a relay that powers the fuel pump. Nothing worked, they are always on. They are spinning the correct way.

I think it does need 12's, I rewired them today. They were wired in series. I didn't think about it when I did it. Today I reran them in parallel. They seem to be pushing pretty strong now.

I need a real hot day. It ran clean today.

........ smdh why don't you get a set of stock fans, replace the relay/fuse/fan switch that's gone bad and wire it up the way it's supposed to be?

also make sure that the radiator and condenser isn't clogged or blocked off allowing proper air flow as the compressor puts a decent load on the engine when it's running.

i have 12" cheapo fans on my full size aluminum radiator and it barely keeps it in check. Get better fans. Wire them in parallel.

It stays in check now. Gets to 200 with the AC on and idling in 110 degree weather.

Good enough for now.

I ordered a fan controller and 2 mishimoto fans.

Burp the system... Just take the rad cap off and let it run for awhile atleast 2 fan cycles fill as needed

Or you might need a new T Stat
