Default Ok... time for an intake question...

Alright. I own a 98 base Lude that is stock, except for a K&N air filter.
I want to know if I would gain any more power by replacing it with a Cold Air Intake. I have also heard that Short Ram Intakes actually gain more HP than CAI's... Anyone know the truth on this subject? Also, any pros and cons to each setup... Thanx for the help...
Travis.

i believe CAI gain more because they bring cold air in instead of the air around the engine, which is pretty damn hot, and yes, CAI would give you more of a power gain than your K&N filter

Ok.. wow, no flaming yet... Thats pretty good.. Let me really welcome you here as this seems like a very simple topic... Let me also say there is a search function at the top right of the page that works well... You can get very far with that... About your question... CAI(cold air intakes) will yield you the best power results for a number of reasons. Like the other guy said, cold air! The length and design aids to high end power where your h22a4(engine) thrives.... More high end power and ability does wonders for a first mod... Not to mention your new sound... short rams sound great but they d the same hot air affect and are affective at lower rpms... Thats good and the reason the V2 by AEM is coming out, but not for ludes as we all are seeing now... Its function is to provide the low end of a short ram and the high end of a CAI... I would say go CAI all the way... Better in every aspect... The only thing is water... Its hard to hydrolock, but it is possible.. You'll need to be careful in rain and/or get a breather for one... I woudlnt worry too much about it, but I am careful in the rain... More optinos to take care of that issue are also opening up! If oyu are paranoid... Right now I am working on my own way to get the CAI to sit higher fomr the bottom, but still recieve that cold air... Its called land scape tubing....
