Default Odometer Questions again...

The car that I am looking to buy is a 94 red vtec. For some reason the odometer just stoped at 121,xxx miles and is now just blinking at that milage. The guy has kept track b/c the trip still works. Could anyone tell me why the Odom. is doing that and how to fix it? Honda wants $80 just to look at it.

If the odometer is broken, I think it should be sold as unknown mileage which should take a BIG chunk out of the price.

Its a 94 vtec prelude Red with (what he says) 137k on it. Almost perfect condition, very minor wear and 1 tiny rip in leather. The Display on the radio doesn't work..but that will be thrown out anyway b/c its a tape deck and I'll have an aftermarket CD player in it. I'm paying 6500 for it. High miles on a Honda doesn't bother me, he's an older guy so it wasn't driven the **** out of it.

Any other thoughts on what could be wrong with it?

That is too much money for a car with that much mileage. You should be looking at something in the neighborhood of $5k tops. I wouldn't even pay that much though.

**** why not just swap your current car? It could be done for less than 3k.

check under the car if you can. it can sometimes show you really how a person treated it. also, check the front spoiler. there probably will be some scrapes mostly in the middle, but if there are just too many everywhere, chances are that old guy has a young heart and drives like it

I've had the car checked out and the mechanic asked me if new brakes had just been put on, so I went back and asked the owner and he said that he's never changed the brakes on the car. The guy said that he's only changed the clutch once. This is all sence he's owned it. There aren't any major scratches or anything in this car. The mirrors need to be repainted (clear coat), but I havnen't seen a red 4th gen that has all around perfect paint yet. Here are some pictures of the car (I still dont have it, so I only have the pix that were on autotrader)... http://www.autotrader.com/find...=MAOL
