um... wow. I just lost IQ points.

Keepin it simple: same computer, different program, more sensors.
Not two, not a little elf under your carpet... just an upgraded version all Hondas had to upgrade to in 96.

OBDII just has it's little fingers more into the way your motor acts.

This isn't exactly the scientific 100% correct way to describe it, but it's easiest to understand:

The ECU controls things like fuel curves etc.

OBDI had it's fingers in a little bit of the workings of the car.

OBDII has it's entire HAND in the workings of the car. It has preset standards that it thinks it should have to operate properly (like air intake, fuel, timing etc) and it "learns" your new mods after about a weeks worth of driving, and tries it's best to set things back to a stock level.

The OBDII workaround simply cuts the memory wire to the ECU. It doesn't have enough time to learn your new mods. It wakes up each morning in a whole new world.

It's AWESOME for things like, oh, TEST pipes... and it'll keep you from throwing a code.

KMS is on the money.

with the OBDII...everytime you turn the car off it resets the ecu.

D just noticed that sslude's title is blah LMAO ...I think that is the best way you could have described it, according to the posts above

I did not have a clue what the ? was until now..

to put it in even more simple terms...OBDII is more restrictive as far as mods are concerned, when compared w/OBDI
