Default o2 Sensor question

Hey, I got a 99 SH, and I just got a test pipe for it. Will I need an O2 simulator to run it correctly, or will it run just fine the way it is? Thanks.

I would put an 02 sensor in there, cause if you don't, your check engine light will come on

it will run just fine, but your check engine light will come on with a code for cat. inefficiency. This code does not put your car in limp mode, thus it still runs fine. If you want the light to stay off then you need to get a "smart" 02 sim. The dumb resistor, or oscillator o2 sims will not work on our cars.

I know the ECG sim works, and you can get one here:

I don't get it.... What do you do with a test pipe and why would you use this smart 02 in place of the secondary 02 sensor.. .. is the test pipe replacing the cat.

yes a test pipe basically replaces the cat, so you have less exhaust flow restriction. i personally would never do this to a street car, because of all the negative emissions stuff and non-cat cars smell like rotten fish IMO. you could just buy a bolt to fill the hole in the test pipe too ya know.
