no reverse?
i dont know whats going on, today i went to back out of my driveway and my car wont go into reverse no matter what. i have an 01 base model. no matter what i do it wont go into reverse. any suggestions about whats wrong? thanks.
I'm assuming it's a manual? And that all the other gears work fine?
If so, have you tried shutting the engine off before putting into reverse?
Try putting it in 1st, and then putting it back into reverse.
If that doesn't work, try letting the clutch out very slightly and giving it a tiny bit of gas.
If that doesn't work, your clutch might be out of adjustment. Or your shift cables are loose/out-of-adjustment

Syncros? doesnt reverse use another gears syncros? my tranny has also done this recently...tranny works great forward, and it worked the night before when i BACKED the car into the garage. but the next day i couldnt get it into reverse. gonna pull it next weekend and do a lil hands on research. My gears never grinded or anything, everything worked great.
please anyone who actually knows...or has something better than a guess...put in a lil info

recently done any burnouts or launches?
when i took mine to the track....i rolled passed the line on like my 3rd or 4th run and i couldn't get it into reverse to back up....
shift fork was bent or shifted....a few days later i finally forced it in through repeated 1-2-r-2-1 shifting pattern.....it gradually realligned itself after a few days

Hey man.
Try doing this.
Bring your car to an empty parking lot. make sure nothing is in front or behind you. Put the car into neutral....and slowly rev the car to 1,500 rpms or so. Slowly push the car into reverse, while keeping constent pressure on the shifter with your hand, let out the clutch like your going to take off in reverse. The shifter should slip into reverse. If it doesn't, be calm, and try it again. Drive around in reverse for a tiny bit.
Once the tranny is in reverse, it may "be locked into reverse". Use the same method as above. Slowly put pressure on the shifter, rev up to about 1500rpms....and let the clutch out slowly. It should pop back into neutral. see if the shifter now shifts smoothly between reverse and neutral. If it doesn't...keep repeating the process till it does. But generally it only take 1-2 times of this method.
This is how I fixed my tranny...and it hasn't happened since!
Good luck man! and hopefully this will fix your problem!
My lock out problem happened when I misshifted between 3rd and 5th gear once. Just to let everyone else know in case it happens to them.

trust me your tranny will not get it's reverse back. happened to me before and its a b*tch when you can't reverse. Sometimes you can't reverse and needs gravity or a homie to get out there and push your car back in front of everyone. I would just get a used tranny and slap it on. Problem solved.
