help diagnosis my tranny problem
K i'm looking for a new tranny but I want to make sure I need one before I jump into this because I dont want to spend money I dont have to on something that I wont use for long.
My car stopped being able to shift into gear on the way to my gf house for turkey day. I got stuck on side of road and had to tow car back to my house. Anyways here is what happened.
A few days ago I started to hear a whining sound in some of the gears when I was accelerating...I think its the throw out bearing....anyways today I was shifting through the gears pretty quick taking it up to 6000 for almost every gear and on the way to fourth bam...it won't shift into gear and the car didn't make any noise just stopped working...so I pulled over and tried pushing the clutch and it feels really spongy...I tried just slamming it into gears to get me home and it wouldn't get into gear...when my clutch went out I could still atleast do that...so I figured its not my clutch...I can still put it in reverse...but it just automatically starts going backwards and stalls out...this sucks someone help me...definately tranny right??? Should I just get a cx tranny to hold me over till I get my b18c in? This couldnt happen at a worse time I dont want to rush my project along.....

Re: help diagnosis my tranny problem (deftones0817)
you'll prolly spend more money trying to diagnose and fix it, i think you should just buy another one. d series trannies are dirt cheap.

Re: help diagnosis my tranny problem (tominos)
It really doesn't sound like a tranny problem. It sounds more like your nslave cylinder or clutch master cylinder. Check the clutch master cylinder reservoir to see ifit still has fluid and if so then you may want to try bleeding it. Of course this is not a fool proof diagnosis, since I haven't seen the car, but just an idea of what might be wrong. Good luck
