Default No flexpipe?

Both SMSP and prospeed headers dont have a flexpipe on them as what i have seen from the pictures that have been posted. Dosent this greatly reduce the life of the header and make it more prone to cracking?

honestly i think you will be OK as long as you dont bottom out right on the friggin header or a nice curb speedbump.

From my understanding, they are important. I wouldn't want to go w/o one, as it absorbs the movements/vibrations from the motor.

i know the prospeed header uses a slip fit that you are not supposed to weld. this will give you the freeplay you need. and if you are still concerned then use a doughnut gasket with spring bolts to connect the header with the exhaust just like on the civics and integras.

i have been lucky and bottomed out a couple of times REALLY badly and am still ok. but i will be going to Kteller.com and getting a flexpipe to weld on when i get back home.

the smsp header uses the same set up as an civic or integra ( floating flange, donut gasket, spring bolts). i haven't had any problems in a year and i even had a nasty encounter with a speed bump when i was lowered.

honestly, if you are going to spend the 1300 on an SMSP you might as well spend the extra $45 and get a flex pipe. just ask dave when you order it if he will put one on to set your mind a little more at ease.

In the following picture you should be able to make out the graphite donut on the collector. This is what is used for all other hondas/acuras. While the flex tubes provide more "flex" they don't provide the same flow quality so I really don't want to use it, plus it would probably add some cost to the piece.

Dave doesn't like using flex pipes as they don't have the flow charachteristics as a slip joint. That's why he doesn't use them.
