Default needed advice "i wanna go fast!"

ok, so i started autocrossing my prelude ('01 non-SH, manual, w/ just a short air intake) and i do fare. yes im new to it but when i jumped behind the wheel of my friends crx (not stock), there is a noticable differnce. now im told that honda did a pretty good job on prelude suspension, which i only have a small problem with (understeering) my tires aren't the best but they're ok, and i haven't done crap as far as engine up grade, but i wanna go fast!

what are some good, basic upgrades for the prelude besides nitro or blower? (im also told honda has tuned the prelude to 95% of its potential power).

suspension, brakes and tires will be your biggest improvement. in autox (as far as the tracks ive been on) you dont really get to use the power that much.

Blower??????? What do you mean by "Blower" and please tell me it's not what I'm thinking...

There's quite a few things you could do, check out the FAQ for somethings..
Here's a thread from the FAQ also:
https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1029795

Good luck

P.S. Body kits + Wings + 18"s /=/ don't equal your goal.. lol

He's talking about that uber sweet electric blower. It adds so much hp.

For auto-x, you'll want some suspension upgrades. Good tires, nice springs and shocks or coilovers, and some good brakes.

Crazy high power isn't really necessary in auto-x. You won't be able to use all of it anyways, seeign as you're in a parking lot runnign around cones.

I believe mild power upgrades will keep you in the current class, but something like turbo or nitrous will put you further up the classes. Perhaps someone with auto-x experience can answer this.

So.. Please tell me you didn't mean that... right...??

FYI, a blower is a belt driven supercharger which they do make for hondas (jackson racing) for h,b,d series motors. there are also other types of superchargers available for honda such as vortech and procharger.

blowers are not just for v8s

the best thing u could do for yourself at this point is like stated. Focus on suspension, tires and brakes.
And also the new mfactory 5.2 final drive would make things very nice. Its being produced right now. It would also be nice to get a custom header, full exhaust and a tune to go along with that.

Yeah yeah... I wasn't thinking of Superchargers when I read that.. I got an image of a big block V8 with a blower and I was just hoping that's not what it meant.. I said it as a joke really..

Though it would be interesting to see one of those on a Honda...

more or less i was talking about the jackson racing supercharger, yeah it only adds 35 hp, but thats throughout the power-band, right? and a turbo would just require too much engine work prior to being able to put it on.

what suspension would you sugest? tein? do yall think that suspension is really going to do much? or would good tires solve the problem?

no...you keep the current tranny, but you replace the final drive gear.

Honestly, you aren't going to be getting any higher than 3rd gear in auto-x, so I dont see the need for it.

Koni adjustable shocks + GrounControl coilovers
Then get some decent rubber to go along with that.

the weight of the prelude is gonna make your car feel more sluggish on the autox course regardless of what you do
