Need some quick help
So i have no idea about the Preludes. Im currently looking at a 94 and it has the f22a engine in it. Can anyone chime in with a little info about this engine? Is it the smallest/biggest? Guy said it has 160hp??
Quick long summary for you; that prelude your looking at is known as the :
-fourth generation prelude. Produced 1992-1996.
-If it says F22A on the engine its most likely a JDM (Japanese domestic market) engine, its a replacement unless the car is right hand drive. If it happens to say F22A1 that indicates it is a USDM < United States, put it together > engine and hopefully the original.
-The F22A(1) is a single over head cam engine(SOHC) and is the base engine and really slow. Not 160HP....not to the wheel, not even to the crank.
-These preludes came with engine: F22, the H23 and the more higher end H22. The H22 is equipped with vtec and vtec= fun.
now the non-technical stuff: ( i'm not hating, i'm just telling it as it is)
-only has 0-1 cup holder equipped.
-fitting people in the rear seats is pain.Unless they are minors.
-for some reason the prelude looks the same size outside as any other car in its class but has about 40% less space inside.
-glove box?? can't even call it that. more like my registration and insurance card pocket.
-the dash board looks like something taken from the star ship enterprise.
-car is pretty reliable( its a dam Honda ).
okay..now to summarize. The prelude is for some reason the least popular Honda sports car to many. Though there are not a ton of aftermarket parts available like the ones offered for the Honda integra and civics. There are still plenty of aftermarket parts and inter-changeable parts possible like swapping to JDM one-piece black housing headlights, JDM climate control, Legend GS dual-piston calipers, DC2 MOMO steering wheel, S2k seats, Motor swaps....etc
Bottom line.. i have a 93' prelude SI(H23A1) and pretty satisfied with it. Just don't make the only mistake i did...it wasn't a H22.. ( and for all you thinking it, NO i don't want turbo my H23 and YES i would like to but i live in CA and we have very strict smog laws and getting a C.A.R.B approved turbo kit is not worth it.) I'm waiting for more info on people doing the K24/k20head swap.
