Default Need some help

Hey guys I'm new to this forum, but I have been readin it for a while now and finally registered. Anyways, I have a question. I am planning on buying a prelude real soon, prob next month. I now a guy that will be selling one then. It has an f22a1 in it and I wanted to get the car then make it an f22a1 block w/ an h23 head. I have found a ton of threads and few write ups. The thing is that none of them are the f22 blocks, they are f23 blocks w/ h23 or h22 heads on them, or f22b2 blocks. does anyone know of a write up specifically for the f22a1/h23 hybrid? If not I guess I'll just keep on usin f23 wirteups. Thanks in advance.

i would also like to know if there are any benefits from using an f23 head. I don't know too much about the f23 engine. I don't know how well it breathes, so if anyone can help me out. I've been doing research but mainly on the h23 head swap. thanks again.

I think I saw a thread earlier but I could not locate it again. But the cost of H swaps now are very affordable. That is prolly your best option if you intend to do some work. I just know that I would not go through the trouble with the F22.

really? I heard that the cost to swap an entire h22 would be much more expensive than doing the head swap. How much would an entire h22 swap cost? I hear that a head swap is like 500. I would think that an h22 would cost more than that. then shipping. and other misc. upgrades. Plus the h22 isn't sleeved (just in case i do boost it). The only reason i'm thinkin about doin this is because of cost. after I finish i would still have $ left to mod.

There are two kind of H-series motors

H23A - Dual over head cam 2.3 liter/ NON V-TEC!!!!
H22A - Dual over head cam 2.2 liter/ V-TEC!!!!

Then you have your F-series ( some components are compatible with the H-series)

F23A - Single overhead cam 2.3 liter/ V-TEC
F22A - Single over head cam 2.2 liter/ NON V-TEC
F20B - Dual overhead cam 2.0 liter/ V-TEC

Frankenstien motors....Hybrids

H23 V-TEC/ H23A block with an H22A head intake and exhaust manifold
F22 V-TEC / F22A block with H22A head intake and exhaust manifold

How compatible is an H22a head with an f22a1? I can't seem to find a writeup on that combination, although i've read a few threads that suggest that this combination would be slightly more friendly to a builder than say an f22bx series motor, which I can find somewhat of a writeup on.

Yeah I found a site, actually a few that claim there was an H23a1 DOHC VTEC made for the 92-96 Prelude Si. Check this link out and scroll down to the H series engines. There you'll find the H23a1 DOHC VTEC. Made for the US market.
