Need a JDM h22a Thermostat
Updated...read if you want...but scroll to some of the post at the bottom.
My car is starting to overheat when idling and its getting on my nerves. I've been searching and searching and I can't find a place or online somewhere that will sell Jdm h22a Thermostat. I bought a usdm h22a at autozone and it wasn't the right siz AT ALL. the jdm thermo is soo much larger, I don't know where to get it. Any place you guys can point me too?

I had a problem like this also I just went to pepboys and looked in the book myself. I looked at several different year h22s and there are like 3 different thermostats just bring yours with you and you should be able to find one that fits.

I think the problem was auto zone. I have replaced my themrostat several times with a USDM one. With no problems. Just order it from honda. http://www.slhondaparts.com

Re: Need a JDM h22a Thermostat (skrewdlude)
kulrevon- you had the same problem too right? where the thermostat is oversized...like huge compared to the usdm thermostat? Well I'll look into that...on to pep boys, hopfully they'll be able to help me. can you go more into details on how you found the right one? you mention book, but the only thing in the book is usdm h22 thermos...
skrewdlude, i cant get the usdm one to fit...its so much smaller...well the site you gave me have the bigger jdm thermos?

Re: (Eddiebx)
well should I try that site...I don't want to buy something like autozone/Kragen auto parts one...those were both small. Or should I just try Pep boys...

its actually right at autozone... You have to know what your looking for though... They have a very crappy computer system.. always look up a 96 vtec... they dont have vtec listed for any other year prior too kind of thing.. Just something we readily tested out over and over again..

Actually I know some h22s that have a big one and some have a small thermostat so you just have to know what your looking for. if you go look in the book at any autoparts store you can see that for different year h22s there are different thermostats.

Re: (kulrevon)
ok a little update..
Got the correct thermo, it was actually a 96 prelude vtec thermo..I have a jdm 94 h22a, dont ask me why it's from a 96 thermo..
So I installed it Sat...and after a long drive...I started to idle and bam...goes up..and up and up...DAMNIT
Now my guess is fan switch, if not, temp. sensor..but Ima change out the fan switches. Any help or confirmation?

Uh.. Yeah... Autozone's system is very outdated..
I work for the company that fixes their computer equipment..
It's a.. um.. very interesting...
I give Autozone a though. I do not go there unless I have too.

Re: (ludingh22a)
I just swapped out the fan switch & thermo on my JDM H22A w/Mugen units. The fans kick in 20 degrees sooner. Also, a Mugen hi-pressure cap. Get your sensor checked it your switch is alright.

Re: (ludingh22a)
meh if it's neither of those - it could be that your water pump is done.. so the fluid isn't actually being moved... i'd leave that for last tho, cuz it would be the least fun. and you also mentioned long drive.. i would think it would heat up rather quickly if it wasn't moving. just giving options.

Re: (MrLude1)
I'm just looking to buying another fan switch....I saw on a site the mugen one for 50 bucks..hmmm...
And no I dont think it's the water pump, if it is, then it'll be overheating while I'm driving also.
So Fan switch?

Re: (ludingh22a)
is your fan turning on is that your problem? maybe the mugen will help even if that isnt your problem. if you get the switch and the thermo the car will run cooler unless you have a different problem.

Re: (kulrevon)
yea i just bought the mugen fan switch..
can someone show or tell me where the location is of the fan switch. I notice two places...one is on the outside of the thermostat, but i think that's the water temp sensor. and the other one is by the distributor...by where the hose ends and the block begins....any help? Thanks guys

Re: (ludingh22a)
I am 99% sure it's the one on the thermostat housing.
Someone correct me if I am wrong. Who put your H22 in? Because when I got my JDM h22 I didn't have the fan switch at the end of the hose near the front of the block. I took the neck from my old motor and put it on the H22 just so I didn't have the plug hanging and so I didn't have to cut it off. It's not functional though only the one next to the thermostat is.
