Need help finding a deck plate...

Default Need help finding a deck plate...

Hey guys, I searched but to no avail. I am building my h22a1 and need a deck plate to simulate a head on my block while it is being honed. does anybody know where I can get one? any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Thats the problem, the one that it is at cannot and I cannot find one. They said they only have them for b-series lol

Thanks for that website. Now they have "block guards" is that the same thing as a deck plate? Thanks

No they are not the same, a block guard adds strength to the block around the combustion chamber to help prevent sleeves from cracking.

I deck plate is bolted to the deck of the block when honing. The deck plate simulates the distortion that the sleeves will have once the head is bolted on.

What your looking for is called a TORQUE plate.Its a steel plate about 1" thick.That you bolt to the deck of your block.

Really? I've never heard of a torque plate until now.

Unless I'm just plain wrong, a deck plate is a piece that fits between the block and the head that allows you to basically increase the deck height of the block, making it easier to run longer rods and strokers.

And from what I've read over the past year, they've only started to get popular with the H-series guys.

You are correct on this as well, but when honing a block, to insure that the sleeves are completely round, you bolt on this plate to simulate the distortion that the head will cause. Some machine shops call them torque plates, others deck plates.

thanks man, thats the one I found too. It is expensive, but there's no other one's i can find. It also really sucks because I only need it once.

well, ordered the torque/deck plate off ebay, cost me like $460, but it had to be done. Anybody let me know if they need one I can sell it to them for cheap. Thanks guys

that is a very old method......who is doing your block......they have cnc's for that.......but here is a deck plated set up for you.
