Icon3 NEED HELP! CAR HAS OVERHEATING PROBLEMS

ok, so I have a H23 prelude that seems to have problems over heating, I just got the car less than a month ago. Car overheats when i got it and so i changed the thermostat and car was fine again. No overheating for like a good week. One day I got into my car after being at the gym and drove it back home. I notice that the car was overheating to the point where is was red.

What can cause a car from not overheating to overheating agian in a week?
-Previous owner said the waterpump and timing belt was changed about 25000 miles ago by a local shop.

-any answer would help
