97 prelude. Check engine light on, car burning about 1 quart every 1000 miles and getting maybe 200 miles on every tank of gas. The car has 46000 on it. We have run tons of FI system cleaner in it and it does nothing. Does anyone have any ideas?

you may be burning oil while your driving. got smoke coming out the exhaust? if so definately burning oil and it aint good. probably bad gasket or somethings cracked. could be wrong but if the check engine light is on, then honda will know what to do. take it to teh shop, and have them diagnose teh situation. better to take it in now and get it fixed then to wait and have to get a whole new block. thats just me though.

 

sounds to me like you're definately burning something. take a good look at teh exhaust coming out the tailpipe, and check every gasket you can get your hands on. Maybe a bit above your skills. you might want to consult a mechanic before it gets any worse.
