so i have my front struts off. i have one spring compressed but i cant get the top nut off!! i worked on it in the rain for like 2 hrs last night! is there any tricks or tips anyone can give me?

i dont have an air compressor.. any way to do it without an impact gun

 

you should have tried loosening the nut a little bit before you compressed the spring. Do you think the nut on there is stripped?

 

na its not stripped. and i lossened the compressor and it still jus spins

 

Just take it to a les schwab or something they will get it off

 

a 3/8" impact guns works best cause it hammers quicker/faster than a 1/2". doing it by hand is going to be near impossible. im not sure if your strut will have it but on top of the stud might be a spot for a 6mm hex to fit in. that will hold that in place as your twist the nut off.. chances are that wont work either

 

i got it i just used a pipe wrench to grab the pole. and compressed the spring around it and presto came right off
