Almost 2 years ago i drained and refilled my manual transmission fluid and i remember when we, my friend and i, filled the tranny back up it did not take in as much fluid as was drained out. so we put the bolt back on in the refill hole and then he showed me a metal tube somewhere in the engine bay near the battery side of the engine that he said goes into the transmission also and we put the rest of the fluid in there.

i was going to attempt this again because it's been a while and i might as well since i'll be changing the oil too. thing is i can not find that tube in the engine bay anymore, i totally forgot where it was. i think it had a dip stick in it too but i don't see it... unless it fell off or something.

can anyone confirm that there is a place in the engine bay where i can add MTF? it's a 5th gen. thanks

 

It's basically in the middle of the transmission, taking off your intake will probably help find it. There isn't a dipstick, but there should be a little rubber cap on top of it.

 

Just use one of those $2 fluid pumps from the auto parts store and use the fill hole. If the car is level, when it flows out, you've got enough.

 

oh i found that little pipe with the rubber cap on it, it was nearly under the intake so i thought it was something else. thanks

you're right vinuneuro, i was at his place yesterday and realized we did it on his driveway with a steep incline. thx

 

^yep. I filled my entire transmission through that hole. I just used a funnel with one of those hoses on the small end.
