MSD Ignition... Help Please...
Alright...
Im thinkin about buying an MSD Digital SCI+ ignition. My car is eventually becoming blown... but untill then I figure Ill reap the gass mileage benefits... So, Besides the control unit... what else would I need to buy to install it and use it (coils right?)?? Also, I looked at MSD's web site and saw that they have a Tachometer driver that hooks up to their ignitions, but didnt specify which ones... will it fit the SCI+ and should I buy it or install the tach a diferant way? MSD also has their own distributor caps... do I need to buy one or can I keep my stock one? Also, how hard is the install and how long does it take?
Thank you.

The SCI is rice and promoted for sports compacts for MSD to take your $$$. Just get the regular 6A and blaster 2 coil and you'll be fine. Crane has some nice units as well and their inside wiring looks a lot "cleaner"
Dude... so I guess rice is being able to retard your ignition timing so as not to snap your crank under heavy cylinder preassure... is the regular msd able to do this?
lets try again... what does the installation of an MSD ignition system entail? What type of work is needed, do I need the MSD distributor cap, how difficult will the install be, and how long will it take?...
You'll need the MSD, the Cap, and the Coil... Wiring up on my B16 wasn't that tough. I took out the internal coil, ran two wires into the distributor cap that came from the MSD itself. The only other wiring will be a power and ground for the MSD and two wires to the coil. I'd imagine that it's fairly the same concept on a H-Series though... total down-time (if you want to make it "look pretty" and all) was about a couple hrs for me (which included finding a decent place to mount the unit, running the wires, soldering and such)...
