messing with stock suspension springs
well i went to a shop to get my 2000 Honda prelude lowered and he said that he charges $500 thats including lifetime warranty on springs.
but he said that he can collapse my stock springs and lower it for $50. is it bad to mess with the stock springs especially collapsing them??

You would be asking for trouble by collapsing them. If he uses an installable spring compressor your ride will suffer, you will bottom out easy, and they might clank or fall off. If he heat treats your springs to permanently compress them or cuts off a bit your handling will be much worse and could even be dangerous to you.
Lower it with new springs and get a wheel alignment.

lowering springs are cheap....but will probably ruin your stock struts/shocks and be super bouncy
Be smart and save up for a decent spring/shock or coilover set up. Basically any spring set is under 200 and a set of good shocks like koni yellows or kyb agx for about 400
so for about 600 unistalled you will have a really nice suspension set up that you will never really have to mess with again.
What ever you do dont let that mechanic cut/modify your stock spring!

what he said
I wouldn't let anyone do suspension work on my car. One nut gets looked over and you could have a major problem on your hands, I like to double check everything myself and see what's going on down there.

I think that goes for any work that needs to be done. You know the quality of work when you do it yourself.
