Default Limp Mode ECU

If Vtec still engages, does that mean that the car is not in limp mode?

I have a code for the EGR not recieving enough flow. However, Vtec still engages, so I am led to assume that I am not actually in limp mode.

true limp mode will not allow the car to run over 3000 rpm. True limp mode will hardly allow the engine to operate. Limp mode means that the ecu is not cooperating with the engine and is resorting to a "last resort" base.

my car ran like crap because of the egr problem. like 98vtec said, limp mode wont let the car to go over 3k or so, try cleaning your egr ports on the IM and take the valve itself off and clean it. Your car is just bogging down and feels as if it has no power right?

Not really. Feels fine. I did take the valve off and cleaned alot of it. I should do the ports though.

I just wanted to know if it was in limp mode or not.

Is there a DIY for cleaning the ports?

Those are pictures of what you have do to clean the ports on your IM. There are four of them. So you pretty much run carb cleaner once they are drilled and use a wire brush to clean it real good. Then you can tap the ports and put bolts in, or JB weld them shut. The tap and port seems safer.

So I can't take off the IM and access them through the runners?

the pictures show exactly what you need to do, whether you do it on the car or off the car is your decision.

its much easier and less work to do it while the IM is still on the engine.

To clean the EGR ports out, I would not do it with the IM still on the car. If you drill out all those ports with the IM on the motor, and spray carb cleaner or what ever into the IM, all those metal shavings and dirty carb crap is going to go right into the motor, and probally cause more damage than your will to go through.

If you just want to say forget about it for now. Just unplug the EGR wire harness from the EGR. You will throw a code(Mabey) but the car will run fine without it.
