lately ive been doing all the known things to solve this idle issue ive been having . I was getting a check engine light so i decided to reset the ecu and see what codes come up and i got 1 and 12 o2 sensor and egr i havnt replaced them yet but with those 2 codes would they be the fualt of my idle surges and car being in limp mode also how do u know if the vtec isnt hooked up right do u get any error codes that assosiate with vtec?

 

Code 1 is O2 sensor. That right there will put you in limp mode.

The EGR i believe will cause a surging idle if its sticking. I got an EGR i pulled off my working 5th gen. You need to replace that O2 and the EGR before you do anything else.
