Default knock sensor

Last night , about 12:30 A.M. I got a CEL. It was 23, I reset this morning and so far it has not come back on. Why would the knock sensor throw a random code like this unless something may be loose?

My knock sensor broke into two pieces where the plastic joins with the metal and randomly threw that code.

Simply resetting the ECU won't be the fix if the connection is bad, it will probably come back on.

I did the same thing and the CEL stayed off for a day so I figured everything was okay. But the CEL came back on again so I reached up there and the top plastic piece pulled right out.

I just had to purchase one of these. The dealership quoted me something like $177. Picked one up on eBay instead. I just looked there's a few on there for a lot less, which is where I got mine. Just a heads up.

OK, I have replaced the knock sensor with a brand new one. I looked at the plug, it looks fine. I still get the CEL . It will come on every week or so. When I reset it, it is fine again until a few more days. What else could be the problem? Is it poosibly something inside the ECU going wrong?

if you have a service manual, you can test everything with a multimeter to see if everything is in check.

x2. if you got a new knock sensor, and it's doing the same thing, you might have an intermittent open or short in your wire somewhere. service manual tells you which wire at the ecu to check with your meter.

what if you don't have a service manual? and yes, I checked the connection yesterday and it is plugged in tightly.
