Icon2 JDM H22A with bent connecting rod.. what else could be wrong

hey there i am new to this site it has given me some great info on threads i have read.but i need some help now..i have found a jdm h22a1 for what i would say would be a really good deal but the catch is it has a bent connecting rod.. i can replace the rods and pistons but i haven't really dealt with blown and damaged engines much so. im wondering what else could be wrong with it..would it be worth buying to rebuild?? any insight would be great ..thanks

The cylinder liners are most likely damaged and FRM can only be honded so much and requires a specific honing procedure to do it correctly. H22a1 is USDM motor btw, H22a is JDM, if yours has a 1 or 4 at the end then someones misinforming you about the motor they're trying to sell.

A bent rod is usually from sucking water through the engine. If the rod is not bent much that could be the only problem. If it's bent a lot it could have taken a notch out of the block which could have messed up the piston which could have dragged debris up and down the cylinder if the engine kept turning, the piston could have hit the crank and the oil jets, etc. If the rod broke there could be a lot of damage. Also look for rust/corrosion related to water in the engine, look for a bent crank, possibly a bent wrist pin or cracked piston also.

i put 33 pounds off a 60-1 to a stock ls and bent a rod. i just replaced the rod. but if u run them long with a bent rod it will **** up the cylinder walls. and we all know about h22 cylinder walls

Just inspect everything thoroughly when have it all layed out. Check the Cyl walls, pistons, head + valvetrains and what not. Good Luck.

Of course it can be done but the result might be.. Not that long lasting

All cylinders should be inspected while you're there and start tearing your engine apart - no point just do one
