Default Intake

I have a 92 Prelude with an H23a. Is there away to not use the resonator that is on the stock intake tube?

The thing is that there will be a hole there. What do I do about that?

So what can i do about the unfiltared air getting through the hole. Can i put a filter for that hole or is that too odd of a size?

Im not exactly sure what your talking about, but I disconnected all the tubing running from intake to valve cover area, and Placed a breather filter on the intake hole and the metal piece coming out from the back of the valve cover. Go to your local autozone or pep boys and they should have an assortment of little breather filters....

I know I can cover the holes going from the valve cover and manifold to the intake tube with breather filters. What about the resonator piece that is on the intake tube. You know, the kind of U shape piece that hangs from the bottom of the intake tube. That hole is a lot larger. Do they breather filters for holes that big?

as said before.... nothing.

You will have a hole just below where your filter is, so everything is still getting filtered. If you still have your splash/dust guards on then I wouldn't worry about stuff getting up there... probably

Im sorry but that isn't the resonator I am toalking about. I think you are talking abou the airbox area. I am talking about the resonator that is along the way from the filter towards the int. manifold. Do you know what I am talking about? The hole is about medium size, maybe about an inch in diameter. Do they make breather filters for that large holes?

I have a breather filter about an inch in diameter. You could also carve out some of the rubber if the breater is barely to small

haha cottonwoodz who is that in your avatar? i think that's my father?

the "resonator" box is under your original intake box - inside the wheelwell (figure below #9.

it sounds like you're talking about the little plastic side tube that loops off the intake arm (#25), which catches oil maybe, or dust that's made it past the filter, or better yet - it changes the pulse of the air. If you take it off, plug the hole. But that's not the resonator.

I haven't been able to find a breather filter that large in diameter. Where did you get one? Also, how do iget the acutual resonator off (the one below the air box). Is there a chance, it will suck water if it is off? Don't want to hydrolock. Will it be ok, if i do put a breather there. It isn't something crucial is it? Do you think removing that piece (part 25 from the diagram) will add a little sound?

Yes it might add a little sound. Taking the resonater out will give u quite a bit of sound. I would just put a piece of ducktape over the hole where you took the U shaped deal out. screw spending money on breathers. Its on the bottem of the intake tube anyways you will never see it. As far as the resonater box take the screw out that holds the fender to the front bumper and you should be able to get the screws out there are three of them i believe. As far as hydrolocking if you have innerfenders then you have nothing to worry about. But i still wouldnt recommend going puddle stomping.

You take all that out when you put a CAI in anyway... and when you do that there is just the cone filter stickin down in there... so taking the resonator off would be safer than a CAI so I don't think you have anything to worry about. You'd have to drive through a pond to hydrolock it. Have fun gettin it out though... make sure you have a lot of patience when you do it
