Installing Tail Light
First off I would like to say I searched already and found no answer to my question. My tail light bulb went out and so I went to autozone to replace it. I asked them what kind of bulb I needed and the guy told me it was a 7443. I went out to my car and took out the broken one and replaced it with the one I just bought. The bulb didnt fit smoothly so I (even though I shouldnt have) forced it in to the socket until it was all the way in. The tail light still did not work. I looked at the old bulb and it said it was a 7440. So I went back into Autozone and switched the 7443 for a new 7440. I tried the 7440 in the socket and it still didnt work. So to see if there was something mabye wrong with the socket I took the bulb from the other tailight that was working and put it into the other socket that I needed to work. I now noticed that this bulb was a 7443. So there were different types of bulbs in each tail light and the 7443 was the one that was working. Well the 7443 still wouldnt work in the other socket and I again forced it in there. So I took out the 7443 that I just switched from the other tail light and put it back into the tailight it was originally in and now that wouldnt work either. So now im stuck with both tailights not working. One bulb that did work was a 7443, the bulb that didnt work is a 7440 and I have a pack of new 7440s. None of which will work in either tailight. I checked the bulbs and they are not broken in the inside. What should I do? Is there a special way of fitting them in, is there a lock or something on the socket or are you just supposed to push down on it like I did? I have a 5th gen prelude. What is the correct bulb number?
are you talking about the socket or putting the socket and the bulb back into the tail light casing? I didnt see a lock on the socket where you put the bulb in , of course i didnt look because it started to become night time and I ran out of light, but if you were talking about putting it back into the tail light casing it woudnt matter if it was in or out. But to answer your question no I did not lock it

i'm talking about the bulb into the socket.
try pushing it down and turning it to the right,
see if that works
