that god damn plastic shield inside my distributor (divides electronics from rotor and cap) never fit properly and made a plastic scraping on plastic noise like the rotor was hitting the inside plastic cover. i pulled it out, sounds gone but im sure it was there to protect wires from arcing and maybe high radiant heat??
anyways, i pulled the ***'n thing out and just want to make sure its not going to cause any problems. Please any thoughts??

yea its main purpose is to keep the spark from arcing to the casing of the dist. My 97 h22a doesn't have it on and i haven't had any problems yet.

okay, thanks guys. your two votes and my vote are good enough for me.
At least it doesn't sound like a garberator with tin can stuck in it, like before
i thought the gear inside on the shaft was stripped, or stripping(or how ever the distributor spins)
