Re: Individual Throttle Body (98vtec)
well i had skunk2 pro series cams but took them out i still have them tohugh my whole valve train is done i/h/e the reason why i took the cams out is bc i didnt have a intake manifld or throttle body so it would be kind of pointless to dyno tuen i thought

Re: Individual Throttle Body (smokedyou19)
ITB's would prolly make for a killer midrange to peak power gain. Especially with the PRO2's which are a pretty damn aggressive set of cams.
What kind of engine management are you using?

you'd have to run either hondata, Crome, Neptune, AEM EMS with ITB's as well. Your piggy back doesnt have the ability to control the setup you are talking about.

Re: Individual Throttle Body (jdmlude5)
Well yea know that i look at it, it wouldnt make sense to have that doen unless i did have high comp pistons..Do you buy the itb as a kit or does a shop do it for you

not necessarilly....you would need some crazy aggressive cams for it to be beneficial. Just mouting ITB's to a stock engine would b pointless. Higher compression, yes...but not something like 12.5:1 is mandatory

Agreed though, ITB's on a stock block is dumb. Get a good header first. ITB's on this guys setup should be nice. I'd like to see higher compression, maybe some headwork as well thought.

just make sure if you do, to get a good enough header so you don't choke the engine. all that air has to go somewhere, and a small header can really hurt you

IMO ITB's are for the bling factor. Sure, they add a little power. Maybe 15-20whp on the right setup with a good tune, but you don't need them to make good NA power.
Ogsmakdude over on Prelude Zone made 250whp on a mild tune with a standard intake + IM, and closer to 275 whp on a more aggressive tune. I think he's shooting for 300whp. (without ITB's)
It's like a polished IM on a turbo setup. It's nice, looks pretty, and adds a little power, but is it worth $500?
I don't think I could justify spending $1800 for 15-20whp, but that's just me. If you want it, go for it. It should look badass. But don't think that just because you have one you will have ubar NA power.

Re: (Attaus)
I always hear that ITBs give really good throttle response, so even though u don't get as much whp ur car will be a lot faster and I also hear that it gives good torque.

ITB and IM.
two different worlds. Two different powerbands.
definitely NOT just a bling factor.

Ok.. what? I'm pretty sure each style delivers power throughout the power band. The ITB's just give a slight bump in the midrange up.
You can argue all day how the ITB's will give you slightly better throttle response, or give you a little more midrange torque, but you're wasting your time. In the real world, what matters, a 250whp NA IM setup is going to be just as quick as a 250whp ITB setup. Sorry.
You NA guys always crack me up. There is always some guy who gawks at 10-15 extra whp, which to a boosted guy, is just one more pound. That slightly better throttle response or midrange torque is actually going to make a difference. (other than butt dyno)
Snap out of it and realize that all 10whp is, is 10whp. Not magic.

No offense, dude, but that sounds a little ignorant to me. Sure, turbo is a sweet way to go, but there's more satisfaction involved in building a 250whp NA H22 than a 400whp turbocharged engine, and its oh so unique. In all due respect, it may be a bit faster and cheaper to go with a turbo setup, but don't **** on innovation just because you don't share someone else's vision.
With that said, I would say go for it. ITB's are oh-so-sick, and we don't see too many of them around these parts. I'd be interested to see someone make this actually work, just realize its gonna be a challenge. But then again, what isn't?
